Staff are trained to: Recover people from the hallway or other areas. Close and lock the door Account for students and adults. Do business as usual.

“Get inside. Lock exterior doors”

Students are trained to: Return inside of building. Do business as usual.

Staff are trained to: Recover students and staff from outside building. Ensure nearby exterior doors are locked. Increase situational awareness. Account for students and adults. Do business as usual.

“Locks, lights, out of sight"

Students are trained to: Move away from sight. Maintain silence. Do not open the door!

Staff are trained to: Recover students from the hallway if it is safe to do so. Ensure the classroom door is locked. Turn out the lights. Move away from the line of sight. Maintain silence. Do not open the door. Prepare to evade or defend.

“To a location”

Students are trained to:

Leave stuff behind, except for phone if possible.

Form a single file line.

Staff are trained to:

Grab classroom safety bag.

Lead students to the evacuation location.

Take roll, account for students.

Report injuries or problems to admin/first responders utilizing the red/green card method.

“For hazard or weather using safety strategies.”

Hazards might include:

• Tornado
• Severe weather
• Hazmat
