About KISD
The Killeen Independent School District serves the City of Killeen, Fort Cavazos, Harker Heights, and Nolanville. This metropolitan area is located in the heart of Central Texas in Bell County, between Waco and Austin, Texas.
The City of Killeen was founded in 1882 by the Santa Fe Railroad and named in honor of an employee of the railroad, Frank P. Killeen. Established in 1942, Killeen’s northern neighbor is the U.S Army post, Fort Hood. The largest armored military installation in the United States. Killeen’s eastern neighbors are the City of Harker Heights and the City of Nolanville.
