Proof of Residency

  • Killeen ISD will require evidence of proof of residency within 10 days from the time a student initially attends school in the district or changes their home address. A valid proof of residency is one that shows the student’s home address, the student’s primary legal guardian or parent name and is dated within the last 30 days. Homeless students do not require proof of residency.  Military families who provide proof of being in transition with orders will be allowed 90 days to submit valid proof of residency. Campus principals will receive notification identifying students with missing proof of residency. Inaccurate residency documentation can affect University Interscholastic League (UIL) eligibility and violate the district commitment to the concept that students should attend the school for which they are zoned. If proof of residency cannot be provided in the parent/guardian’s name due to the residency documentation being in the name of another individual, the parent/guardian must have the affidavit form (IX-C, Exhibit A - available upon request from campus) completed and placed in the student’s file.

A valid proof of residency must consist of one of the following:

    • Utility Bill (Electricity, Cable/Internet, Water/Trash/Sewage, Gas, Land-line Telephone (dated within the last 30 days)
    • Homeowner/Rental Insurance (dated within the last 30 days)
    • Lease - only if dated within 90-days before the enrollment date. If dated 90-days or more before the enrollment date, other VALID documentation is required.
    • Mortgage statement - VALID only if the mailing address is the same as the property address. (dated within the last 30 days)
    • Contract (to include closing documents for new construction for a residential address in guardian's name. (dated within the last 90 days)
    • Housing orders for on-post housing in guardian's name. If orders are not dated within the last 30 days, additional addressed mail will be required.
    • A notarized copy of the 'Establishing Proof of Residence' affidavit, along with a valid Proof of Residency in the homeowner's/renter's name.
