      District Optimization is a strategic process for reorganizing and improving the use of school and district resources—including facilities, staff, and programming—to serve students and the community better.

      This process will help ensure students have access to high-quality educational opportunities and safe, modern facilities. It’s a response to evolving demographic, financial, and academic challenges facing our schools—locally and nationwide.

      KISD is committed to marrying data with the values and experiences of our community to guide long-term decisions and create a sustainable path forward.

      KISD Optimization Priorities        

      KISD engaged with over 200 stakeholders through advisory committees, surveys, and leadership discussions to determine five board-approved priorities to help us focus on the right things and be objective in our analysis.


      These priorities will guide all future District Optimization decisions:

      • Academic Outcomes - Are all of our students performing academically? 
      • High-Quality Facilities - Are our buildings modern, safe, and well-maintained? 
      • Strong Leadership & Staffing - Do schools have experienced, supported, and retained staff?
      • Family & Student Engagement - Is there a strong school culture and community involvement? 
      • Resources for Student Readiness - Are the right people and programs in the right place? 

      Each school has a comprehensive profile reflecting the priorities and other key data about the campus.

    • What's Next?

      • Summer 2025 - Initial recommendations using the five priorities will be developed. School Profile documents become available.
      • End of Summer 2025 - Initial recommendations will be presented to the board and community
        for feedback.
      • Fall 2025 - After revisions, the board will vote on the final recommendations, and implementation will start.
