Power Hour Overview
-
Killeen ISD high schools have developed a multi-faceted Power Hour program within the daily lunch periods. Students will have time to take advantage of tutoring, extracurricular activities and to eat lunch.
Coaches, directors, and sponsors of other UIL activities use Power Hour to make grade checks and help students succeed academically.
Campus intervention teams are formed with teachers providing tutoring for credit recovery, end-of-course test preparation, and graduation planning.
Overview
-
Power Hour is approximately one hour during the school day which students may eat lunch, attend tutoring, go to club meetings or participate in other activities. It is designed to allow students to make the most of their lunch time without having to stay after school. It also allows students the opportunity to manage and make good use of their time in preparation for real-world experiences and life beyond high school.
Please remind your student that it's important to follow all Power Hour Expectations. If at any time, the majority of students are not following expectations, we will return to Power Hour Homeroom and 2 lunches, until we can re-train.
Parents, please note: No all-calls will occur during Power Hour. If you need to check-out your student during Power Hour, please communicate ahead of time with your student. Students do have access to their cellphones during Power Hour only.
