Mrs. Karla Braxton

Hello, Roos!

          My name is Karla Braxton, and I am privileged to serve as the Counselor Registrar for Killeen High School. I am proud to be part of such a dynamic and thriving organization where everyone is devoted to student success!  If you are new to KHS, I will probably be one of the first people you meet on campus as I assist your family with the registration process.  We strive to make you feel welcome and supported as you join Roo Nation!

          With over 20 years in education, I have served as a counselor, teacher, librarian, and technology specialist.  I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Texas RGV, and I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling and Development at Lamar University.  Throughout my career, my greatest joy has always been helping students discover their gifts, cultivate their interests, celebrate their successes, and grow through their challenges.  

          On a personal note, I am blessed with a loving and supportive family.  My husband and I are celebrating 31 years of marriage.  During our time off, we love taking relaxing drives and appreciating the beautiful Central Texas scenery.  We have two brilliant and beautiful daughters who are now “grown and flown.”  One graduated from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, and the other graduated from Texas State University. We are very proud of the kind and independent young women they have become!  The newest member of our family is our sweet and adorable puppy, a rescue Chiweenie named Finn who also enjoys long, relaxing car rides!
