Mrs. Tammy Thornhill

Tamara Thornhill has served in instructional leadership roles in the district and is currently the principal of Killeen Elementary School.  She's also served as an assistant principal at Audie Murphy Middle School and most recently served as principal of West Ward Elementary. Before her time in leadership, Thornhill was a teacher at Clifton Park Elementary School where she was named the 2014 KISD Teacher of the Year and the Region 12 Teacher of the Year in 2015.

A Killeen native, Thornhill attended Peebles Elementary School, Rancier Middle School, and graduated from Killeen High School. While growing up and visiting her grandmother, Thornhill would often spend summers and weekends in the north Killeen neighborhood off of Rancier.

Thornhill has a Master’s of Education in Administration from Texas A&M Central Texas University in Killeen, Texas.

Superintendent Dr. John Craft said, “Tammy Thornhill has demonstrated her abilities not only as a dynamic teacher but also an incredible instructional leader. We are excited for the students and teachers of Killeen Elementary as we prepare to start a rich tradition in our newest campus, Killeen Elementary.”
