Mrs. Jane Apodaca

Welcome to Skipcha! I am originally from Kentucky and relocated to Central Texas 16 years ago. I love helping teachers grow and learn so they can help children do the same. My husband, Michael, and I have three children who are scattered about the country in New York, Arkansas and North Carolina. We also have two grandchildren. Michael works as a civilian for the Army at Operational Test Command. I have worked for KISD for 16 years as a teacher, campus instructional specialist and assistant principal before serving as Principal at Skipcha.

In my free time, I enjoy church activities, traveling, reading and learning about different cultures. I also love a good movie!

Welcome!

  • Welcome to Skipcha Elementary, home of the Shining Stars.  We look forward to meeting and getting to know your families and working with your children. We love looking at their little faces and watching their minds grapple with and eventually master new learning.

At Skipcha Elementary, we focus on creating a mindset where growth is celebrated. Did you know that research suggests people learn best when they have a productive struggle with new learning? Can you think of a time when you were learning how to do something new and it was a little difficult? With some guidance and help, you learned how to do it. This is how we help children learn at Skipcha. The curriculum is challenging, but we are here to support the children as they contend with the new learning. Our teachers provide lessons requiring students to think and we expect them to provide evidence to support their responses. As you probably know, we are preparing students for jobs that may not even exist yet. When your child comes home and talks about hard tasks, the best advice you can give them is:  Keep trying. You haven’t learned it yet, but you will. Everything is difficult before it is easy!

We look forward to collaborating with you as we prepare your child for the future!
