Mr. Sam Farmer

Sam Farmer is the Campus Technology Support Specialist for Union Grove Middle School. He has been actively working in Education since 1998.

Mr. Farmer began his teaching career in Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD where he taught 5th grade Science and Social Studies as part of a team with two other teachers. He and his wife then moved to Coffeyville, Kansas where he taught 5th grade self-contained for two years.

Sam and his wife decided to move back to Killeen, Texas. They had lived there previously when Sam was in the Army. He was hired as a 5th grade teacher at Willow Springs Elementary. There, he focused on high achievement of At-Risk students as measured by the state assessments. After a successful year in 5th grade, he decided to try something new - 2nd grade. Mr. Farmer taught 2nd grade at Willow Springs for two years.

When Mr. Farmer's Assistant Principal, Keith Moore, became Principal at Oveta Culp Hobby Elementary, Sam was asked to come along and teach 2nd grade. Mr. Farmer did that for part of the next school year before being hired as a campus technologist for the Special Education department.

While a technologist for Special Education, Mr. Farmer led a district-wide initiative to move the district's ARD process from a paper-based one to a digital process. After three years in the Special Education department, Mr. Farmer was hired at Palo Alto Middle School as the campus technologist.

Mr. Farmer received a bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Elementary Education) from Southwest Texas State University and a master's degree from Tarleton State University - Central Texas in Computer Information Systems.

He acquired a Principal's Certficate after completing a preparation program through Lamar University. Mr. Farmer also holds an I.T. Director certification from Texas Computer Education Association.

Sam's wife, Alisa, is a District Assessor. They have been married since 1993 and have two daughters, Kate and Olivia. Kate is a Registered Nurse and works as a traveling nurse. Olivia is attending the University of Houston and studying Engineering.
