Megan Gilbert
My name is Megan Gilbert and I am an 18 year veteran of Iduma Elementary. I have served as one of our professional school counselors for the past 9 years, but before that I taught 1st grade, 3rd grade and was a special education paraprofessional. I work with my fellow counselors, administrators and teachers to provide a safe environment for students every day they walk through our doors. I love Iduma and love serving our students and families.
I am a product of Killeen ISD and graduated from Killeen High School. Growing up in Killeen helps me relate to our students and understand some of the struggles they face each day. I want our students and families to know they have people in their corner and will support their needs.
When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids at home or at one of their many extracurricular activities. I am active in my church and enjoy giving back to the community by connecting people with resources.

Cristelita Fuertes
My name is Mrs. Cristelita Fuertes. I enjoy working with our Iduma students because they give me so much love! I also appreciate working with parents, staff and other professionals because I gain a lot of knowledge and develop new skills that I need in order to perform my job well.
I started working as a professional school counselor at Iduma Elementary School in 2016, as soon as I earned my Masters of Education in School Counseling degree at Texas A&M University of Central Texas and passed the examination for School Counselors.
I am also a teacher. I enjoyed teaching PreK students at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Gr. 1 and Gr. 4 students at Meadows Elementary School in Fort Cavazos, and I currently tutor after school at the JPLC, KISD Tutoring Center.
Outside of school, I love spending time with my family: Nyla, our gorgeous Pitbull-Terrier, my husband, Retired 1SG Joel Fuertes, who served in the US Army for 20 years and now works for the Killeen City Public Library; my daughter, Cathleen Joy, and my son, Joel Christopher. Both completed their elementary, middle and high school in KISD.
