    Knights Chapter National Honor Society: 

    The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. Members within the National Honor Society are celebrated for embodying the four pillars of the organization—service, leadership, scholarship, and character. At the same time, the organization hopes to strengthen and build upon these existing traits in order to prepare these future leaders for college and career. 

    Application Requirements: 

    • Leadership experience
    • Community service hours
    • Cumulative 13.0 GPA
    • Teacher recommendations
    • Typed resume 
    • School activity involvement

    Membership Requirements: 

    • 50 volunteer hours a year
    • 10 volunteer hours through NHS
    • Attend two NHS meetings a month
    • Attend both induction ceremonies and the NHS banquet
    • $15 yearly membership fee
    • Maintain an 13.0 GPA

    FAQ: 

    1. Does NHS offer leadership training to members

    -Members can attend any of three yearly LEAD conferences for leadership training.State associations may also provide leadership opportunities.

    2. I was a member of National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) in middle school. Am I automatically eligible to join NHS?

    No. NHS and NJHS are separate entities with different requirements for membership. Also, you are not eligible for membership until the end of your sophomore year.

    3. If I transfer schools, does my NHS membership transfer with me?

    Yes, if you provide a letter from your former principal or chapter adviser confirming your membership—though you must meet your new chapter's standards within one semester to retain your membership
