    • Phase 2 is complete and the building is in use by staff and students. Asbestos abatement on the old building is starting and will be followed soon after by demolition of the building.

    • Roofing, waterproofing, insulation, windows, exterior veneer, metal stud framing, and door frames in process.

    • The Board of Trustees approved the Guaranteed Maximum Price. The project is transitioning into construction

    • Bids have been received and the project is under budget. Cloud Construction is currently compiling the Guaranteed Maximum Price.

    • Bid documents are complete and the project is out for bidding.

    • 100% quality control page turn with Huckabee and KISD Facilities.
    • Pershing Park bidding/ construction strategy discussion with Huckabee and KISD Facilities.

    • KISD Board of Trustees approved the contract amendment with Arias & Associates for Construction Materials Testing services.
    • KISD Board of Trustees approved contract with Encotech Engineering as the commissioning agent.  

     
    February 12, 2019

    • KISD Board of Trustees approved Encotech Engineering as the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing commissioning agent.

     
    February 11, 2019

    • The project has transitioned from the Design Development phase to the Construction Document phase and is currently on schedule.
    • Cost estimates have been completed for the Design Development phase and the project is currently estimated to be under budget.
    • Exterior stone and brick color options were presented to district leadership on February 5th and selections were made.

     
    January 24, 2019

    • The design team met with all stakeholders including the Principals on January 10th to review the site plan, floor plans, and detailed documents, and they provided valuable input.

     
    January 13, 2019

    • At the December Board Meeting, the Board of Trustees approved a change to the exterior design of the prototype building to be more equitable to the most recent KISD school designs.
    • Design Development documents are in production.
    • The design team met with all stakeholders to review the documents and received valuable input.

    • Huckabee presented Schematic Design to City of Killeen.

     
    November 30, 2018

    • Schematic Design was presented to the Board of Trustees on Tuesday. Board members provided valuable feedback and expressed positive support for the design of the building. The project goes to the board on December 11th for approval of the Schematic Design.
    • The contractor for the project, Cloud Construction, has been providing input to the design team on constructability and cost management.
    • Geotechnical borings and analysis are complete, and the engineer is currently working on the report.

    • Campus meeting with Huckabee, KISD Facilities, and Principals for Pershing Park and Sugar Loaf consolidation.

     
    September 28, 2018

    • After further analysis of student capacity needs, KISD chose to change the design of the Pershing Park/Sugar Loaf project to a 2-story 1,050 student facility. The schedule for the project is being revised based on a Fall 2021 opening date.

    • The design team met with district leadership to review options and determine a palette for the interior materials and color.

    • The design team met with several stakeholder groups over several days to share the latest version of the design and receive input.
    • A draft version of the Schematic Design documents were delivered to KISD on 9/6/2018.

    • Huckabee introduce/present project concepts to City of Killeen staff.

    • KISD Board of Trustees approved Geotechnical Engineer contract.

    • Initial site plan and floor plan concepts were reviewed with KISD staff and Huckabee on Tuesday. The feedback was very positive with a few requested changes that are easily incorporated.
    • The design team has transitioned to developing massing and 3-dimensional concepts.

     
    August 2, 2018

    • Site survey field work is complete. The design team is starting to utilize the information for laying out the site design.
    • KISD has chosen to move forward with a 3-story design that will be a copy of the East Ward ES building design.
    • Initial concepts for the building and site plans are nearly complete ahead of a planned meeting with KISD leadership next week.
    • The Civil Engineer has discovered the locations of existing stormwater infrastructure. The information ascertained will allow the detention pond to be deeper, which means the footprint will be smaller than originally anticipated.

    • Site survey crews are currently doing field work.
    • Huckabee design team is generating two concepts- one is based on a 2-story building and one based on a 3-story building.
    • Huckabee team is evaluating drainage patters and existing underground utilities on/around the existing property to determine the best option for managing stormwater.
