Mr. Cook

James Cook grew up in Newark, NJ, where he graduated and joined the United States Army. He went on to serve our nation for over 22 years. He spent 12 of those years at Fort Hood which has been rebranded as Fort Cavazos. He married Keina Cook in 1999 shortly before landing at the Great Place. Together they both serve the students and community of Killeen ISD while raising their own three children. Mr. Cook has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Troy University in Alabama, and a Master of Science in Education from Louisiana College.  

Mr. Cook previously served as 5th grade math/science teacher at KISD’s own Cedar Valley Elementary School for 8 years. There he was selected as our district and Region XII Elementary Teacher of the Year. Mr. Cook is most noted for his ability to build relationships that fostered necessary collaboration between staff and families that greatly benefited his entire campus. He has used the knowledge gained to coach and mentor fellow educators as well. He designed daily rigorous math and science lessons that allowed for real-world application by his students. 

Mr. Cook has a strong desire to continue to mentor and grow educational professionals. James is excited for the opportunity to have a positive impact on Charles Patterson Middle School by having a hand in developing individuals that will make our society a more inclusive and equitable one. His passion is evident in his words and his actions. He looks forward to continuing his life of service to others.
