KISD Swimmers record 27 Top-Three Finishes at Mary Jobe Winter Classic

Killeen High’s Anthony Helmer won two individual events and Shoemaker’s Kellen McInelly took the top spot in one, highlighting a slew of top-three finishes for Killeen ISD swimmers at the Mary Jobe Winter Classic on Saturday at Clements Boys and Girls Club.

McInelly –– who was first in the 100-yard butterfly –– and the Grey Wolves accumulated 142 points and placed second in the team standings among 11 squads in attendance. Pflugerville Hendrickson eked out the team gold with 149 points.

Helmer finished first in the boys 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, and anchored the Roos’ winning 400 freestyle relay (Ryan Barnett, Brandon Barrington, Marcos Bedolla) as Killeen piled up 130 points to place fourth.

KISD’s other gold belonged to Shoemaker’s girls 400 freestyle relay of Gabrielle Batts, Kalianys Mora Garcia, Alessandra Urquidi Franco and Madelyn Dixon.
