Killeen LULAC Council 4535 Foundation Scholarship
The Killeen LULAC Council 4535 Foundation and Killeen-Fort Hood LULAC Council 4535 provide scholarships to deserving Killeen and Copperas Cove Independent School District area students who are currently attending high school and who will attend college in the coming academic year.
The scholarship is in the amount of $1,000. Scholarships can be used for tuition, fees, or books. Proof of college enrollment is required. Funds will be sent to the college or university where the receipient is enrolled and will be available for his or her academic costs. Checks will NOT be given to recipients or their parents.

EHS will host/adminster the ASVAB test to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students on Wednesday, April 17th, 2019.
If you are interested in taking the ASVAB, please stop by the counselors' office and sign up. The test will be given in the EHS auditorium beginnning at 8:45 and students will have "B" lunch.
Advisors form CTC will be here on Wednesday, April 3rd and Thursday, April 4th to advise those seniors who have taken and passed the TSI test and submitted their application.

Eligibility and Qualifications
- be currently enrolled in KISD or CCISD as a senior graduating at the end of the 2018-2019 academic year;
- perform at least 10 hours of community service in a LULAC sponsored/selected activity AFTER selection as a LULAC recipient;
- attend an accredited college, university, or approved post-secondary institution in the fall or spring;
- unused funds will NOT be carried over to the next scholastic year!
- have a financial need for the scholarhsip;
- declare an intent to fulfill the post-secondary school's certificate or degree requirements;
- take a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester or be a full time student;
- take relevant courses towards their degree or certificate;
- be in good standing with the school.
- Applications packets MUST be received by 22 March 2019. NO exceptions.
- Interviews will be conducted at schools during the week of 25-29 March 2019.
- Banquet is scheduled for 13 April 2019 at the Courtyard Marriott in Killeen.

The Central Texas P20 Career Day is Friday, February 01, 2019 from 9:00 am - 12:30 pm, at Central Texas College (CTC).
The goal of the Regional High School Career Day is to expose students to local career training options in order to assist with a successful transition into a career and/or higher education upon graduation from high school.
Registration is first-come, first served. Registration is now open and will end January 14, 2019. There is no late registration.

FREE AP SATURDAY STUDY SESSIONS
The Killeen ISD is offering free AP Saturday sessions for all AP Chemistry, AP Biology, and AP Physics students. These intensive study sessions will be on January 12th, February 23rd, and April 27th at the Jackson Professional Learning Center.
The sessions, presented by College Board subject experts, are designed to increase student's AP exam scores.
Each day is a different session. Seating will be limited therefore those that register online will be guaranteed seating. We accept walk-ups to the sessions based on space availability.
The sessions are held at the Jackson Professional Learning Center 902 R.A. Abercrombie Drive Killeen will run from 8:00 - 12:00, breakfast will be provided.

The first workshop is Tuesday, October 23rd from 6 - 8 pm at Shoemaker High School.

TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY CAMP L.E.A.D.
Texas Tech University will host Camp L.E.A.D., Texas Tech University's leadership, education, and and development program, which takes place July 24-27, 2018. During this program, students will participate in activities ranging from individualized leadership sessions to group challenges and team-building activities. Students will also have an opportunity to explore Texas Tech through an official campus tour and in-depth sessions with their intended field of study.
Transportation, housing, and curriculum materials are provided at no cost to students admitted into the program.
Admission to Camp L.E.A.D. is highly selective. Students should apply and submit documentation regarding their leadership abilities no later than the given deadline. To be considered, students must meet the following requirements:
- Grade Level: must be an incoming high school senior in the Fall of 2018
- Academic Performance: student's high school counselor must submit a form regarding their academic performance. Students are also asked to self-report their ACT/SAT scores.
- Community involvement: must be an active member of your community and involved in extracurricular activities.
- Leadership: must have a proven desire to be a leader.
- Interest in Texas Tech: applicants must be interested in enrolling at Texas Tech University.
- Cost: Transportation, housing and event materials provided at no cost if admitted.

TEXAS A&M SUMMER CAMP ARCH
The College of Architecture will be hosting Camp ARCH this summer from July 8th to the 14th. The resident summer camp is designed to give young people an opportunity to experience the professions of Architect, Construction, Landscape Architect and Visual Designer. The program accepts high school students who have completed the 9th grade or higher. The objective of the camp is for the participants to experience working together in a studio environment just as professionals would in a design or construction firm. The students will be house in dormitori8es on the Texas A&M University Campus and will be taught by faculty/graduate students from the College of Architecture.
The number of participants is limited to 75 students selected on a competitive basis. Through the College Prep Scholars Program, academically outstanding, low-income students can receive awards, recognition, and opportunities that will give them an early advantage in applying to college. Top colleges are actively seeking students who hav excelled academically despite financial hardship.
Who is qualified to be a College Prep Scholar? High School juniors, typically in the top 5-10% of their class, earning primarily A's in the most challenging courses available, whose families earn less tha $65,000 annually (for a typical family of four) with minimal assets. Students should also demonstrate strength in character and motivation to succeed.

TSI Testing at Ellison High School
Students who are interested in applying for the Texas Bioscience Institute or Dual Credit for the 2018-2019 school year, may sign up in the counselors' office to take the TSI test. The test will be administered here beginning January 10, 2018. There are a limited number of seats for the testing.
The testing dates are: January 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, 31, February 7th and 8th.
