      • Arrival/ Drop-Off Procedures

Staff members are on duty at 7:30 a.m. Children may not arrive earlier than 7:30 a.m. Official agencies will be contacted if a student consistently arrives before 7:30 a.m.

Doors will open at 7:30. Staff will be ready to receive PK3 and skills students at door 15. Please use the right lane at the front of the school for this drop off. Staff for PK4 students will be at door 4 starting at 7:30. Please use the staff parking lot entrance for this drop off location.

Students in grades K-5 that are dropped off by car can enter the school using door 1 at the front of the school or door 4 on the side of the school. Please note that if dropping off to door 1 please stay in the left lane at the front of the school. Students in grades K-5 that walk to school can enter through door 1, door 4, or door 14. Please note that there is no car drop off at door 14.

If you are parking in a drop off lane to help your child out of their car seat, please be mindful of the traffic behind you and return to your vehicle as quickly as possible so that all parents can unload in a timely manner. If you are behind a parked car, please do not go around it. We need to make sure parents and students are safe in the drive-up lane.

If a student arrives after 8:05 a.m., he/she must enter through the front door with a parent to sign them in.

For your safety, and the safety of our students, please observe these policies:

        • Always use designated crosswalks when walking.
        • Walk on sidewalks; do not walk through the parking lots.
        • Do not stop or park your vehicle in any crosswalk.

There is a 100% ID check for pick up daily.

Teachers will not discuss behavior or academics in detail at dismissal time. This is private information and should be shared in a conference. You can always schedule a conference with the teacher. We use Tuesday folders as a communication tool. Please check your child’s folder for notes, homework, etc.

Please pick up your child from school at the scheduled time. If a student has not been picked up on time, we will attempt to contact the parents and/or the emergency contact person. School personnel will not transport students. If your child is persistently picked up late, other official agencies will be contacted.

As stated in the Fort Cavazos Out of School / Youth Supervision Policy, children in pre-k through first grade must be picked up and have direct supervision by an adult, parent, or legal guardian.

      School Attendance & Punctuality

      • Attending school regularly and being on time is crucial because it sets the foundation for academic success. It ensures that students don't miss out on valuable learning opportunities, fosters a sense of responsibility, and helps develop important life skills like time management and consistency, all of which are essential for a bright future.

        Friendly Reminders:

        • Please remember that after the tardy bell rings, you will need to come to the front office to sign your student in.
        • Also, remember to bring an ID card when you sign your student out for the day and at dismissal. This is also for anyone you have authorized to pick your student up from school.
        • Please ensure you are here on time to retrieve your student.
        • Please do not park in the bus or fire lanes. This is a safety hazard and citations will be given. Thank you for helping us keep all students safe.

As always, the staff here at Montague Elementary appreciates all you do!
