Our History - Meadows Elementary School

Established in 1953, the school has been a cornerstone of education in the local community for nearly seven decades.

    The roots of Meadows Elementary School can be traced back to the original campus, which served as the nurturing ground for countless young minds until 2006. That year marked a significant milestone in the school's journey when the current state-of-the-art building was erected, standing proudly adjacent to its predecessor. This transition represented a commitment to providing the best possible learning environment for the students of Meadows Elementary.

    The very foundation of the school is steeped in honor and dedication. On November 23, 1953, the original school building was dedicated in a solemn ceremony presided over by the esteemed Post commander, Major General William S. Biddle. This dedication was a heartfelt tribute to the memory of LTC Benjamin Earle Meadows, a distinguished figure who left an indelible mark on both the military and educational realms.

    MeadowsLTC Benjamin Earle Meadows was not only a valiant and respected member of the United States Military but also a visionary leader who played a pivotal role in the establishment of the first elementary school on post. As the Post Engineer and a council member of the committee that spearheaded this endeavor, LTC Meadows demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the education of military families. His legacy continues to inspire the educational pursuits of countless students at Meadows Elementary School.

    Today, Meadows Elementary School stands as a testament to the enduring values of excellence, honor, and community. It serves as a nurturing haven for students from diverse backgrounds, continuing to uphold the proud tradition of quality education that LTC Benjamin Earle Meadows himself championed.

    "Meadows on the hill," is located next door to our current campus. It now operates as the Fort Cavazos NEC.
