Killeen ISD Elementary Music teachers are provided the opportunity to achieve a Kodály certification while employed with the district.  In order to qualify, teachers must have a minimum of one year of teaching experience and have signed their contract to teach in Killeen ISD the following school year.  Other than the cost of books, the program is free of charge and offered at one of our campuses in the month of July.  

The program is taught by fully certified instructors from around the state of Texas.  Teachers will begin with the Level I certificate and then continue the subsequent summers to achieve levels II and III.  Completion of each level does not have to be over consecutive summers. If teachers have completed any level outside the Killeen, they can submit their completion certificate to the program coordinator. Teachers are considered fully certified Kodály educators upon completion of all three levels.  

This is a rigorous 11 day commitment each summer.  Training days run from 8:00 - 5:00.  In addition to the training hours, assignments are required that must be completed at home.  Absences or incomplete assignments could jeopardize the teacher's successful completion of the program.
