Band is offered at all middle schools and high schools beginning in grade 6 and continuing through grade 12.  Band programs in Killeen are highly competitive engaging in a variety of competitions throughout the year including TMEA  region, area, and state auditions, Solo and Ensemble Contests, Marching Contests, and UIL Concert and Sight-reading Evaluation. 

Focus at the middle school level is on the development of individual playing skills.  Students in grade 6 select an instrument in the spring of their 5th grade year at KISD instrument fairs that are held across the district.  

Focus at the high school level is on ensemble development and the refinement of individual ability.  Students in band at the HS level also take part in the marching band which rehearses either before or after school and attends all football games.  

Students in band benefit when they become part of the band family.  In addition to learning to read music, students develop diligence, grit, self-confidence, and the ability to work as part of a team.  Students in band also have the opportunity to engage in many fun campus social and community events.
