1. The present UIL rules stipulate that only one major award (maximum cost of $70.00) for participation in inter-school competition may be presented during a student’s high school enrollment in the same school.  Additional symbolic awards not to exceed $10.00 each may be presented for each additional interscholastic activity during the student’s high school career.
    2. Participants must meet the scholastic requirements as set forth by the UIL.
    3. The participant must have finished the year as a member of the organization and be in “good standing” with the campus organization visual arts department.  A student who finishes the year on suspension is not a member of the organization and is not in good standing with the campus organization visual arts department.
    4. Awards remain the property of the Killeen Independent School District until the student graduates.  Any abuse of the honor to possess an award will result in the student being relieved of the award (to be determined by the campus teachers of the visual arts organization and campus principal.).
    5. Awards will conform to all UIL regulations.
    6. Students must be enrolled in a current visual arts class in order to earn points towards earning a varsity award.
    7. Students must be enrolled in a visual arts class for the complete year to earn the points for that year. Single semester enrollment forfeits the points for that year only.
    8. Points are to be saved and built upon previous years.
    9. Participants must be in a visual arts class for two years minimum prior to earning an award. If a student is a Gold Seal recipient prior to completing their 2-year minimum requirement, then the award will be held until the 2-year minimum requirement has been met before receiving the award. Points are only earned if currently enrolled in a visual arts class and current in good UIL standing during the event as well as within the 2 year minimum rule.
    10. Points are retroactive for our current student enrollment who are returning seniors.
    11. Senior Award Rule:

When a senior fails to meet the requirements to be awarded a varsity award, the art teachers may letter the participant providing the participant has met all of the previous criteria mentioned in the Awards and Lettering one (1) through (9).

    1. A member school may not give and a student may not accept awards for participation in interschool competition in excess of $10 per year (total for all UIL school activities).  A student may accept a symbolic award in recognition of achievement in an interschool contest (i.e. Visual Arts Scholastic Event awards, ribbons, medals and plaques).
    2. In order to qualify for a letter award, a participant must meet the following requirements in their visual arts organization.
      1. Limitation of Awards: A participant school or member of the school district may give an award not to exceed $70 in value to a student during that student’s high school enrollment as the same school for participation in UIL interschool competition(s).
