Inclement Weather Procedures

  • When inclement weather is predicted, the decision to delay, postpone or cancel classes due to inclement weather is based on an analysis of all available information at the time. 

    In the event of a closure, postponement or delay, parents and employees will be notified by phone, text message, and email.

    Updates on school delays and closures will be available on the District's website, mobile app, and official KISD social media channels. Local news media will also be notified.

    Communication

    During bad weather situations, Killeen ISD will use the following communication channels if there are any changes to the district schedule:

    The district's mass email and text messaging notification system. Your information must be updated with your child's school to receive the alerts. 

    Bad Weather Makeup Days

    Killeen ISD designates two bad weather days on the district calendar. If the district closes due to weather, those days are used to make up missed school and work. Further information is included in parent/staff communication.
