Ms. Elsie Velez

¡Hola Phoenix families!  My name is Elsie M. Vélez.  I am the Gateway High School counselor.  I have been in education for more than fifteen years and I have served for ten years as a classroom teacher before becoming a school counselor. I will be available to work with students on a variety of topics ranging from academics to management of emotions, to behavioral struggles.  I am very happy to help our students with their post-secondary plans such as college and career options. No matter the concern, I am here to help! 

I am from Puerto Rico, “la isla del encanto” (the island of Enchantment). I have three handsome young adults and I have been in Killeen for more than nine years. The military brought us here and we liked it so much, we stayed.  As we get to know one another, I would love to know more about you!  I love to dance and eat chocolate😊

It will be my honor to assist Gateway High School students to address their needs and concerns so they may build their skills to meet their full educational potential.  I look forward to working with you to make this school year as productive and successful as possible.
